Tell us more about yourself, where are you from, why did you choose Taledo?
Hello. I'm Bruno, I'm from Brazil and I'm 30 years old. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
I moved to Berlin one year ago after working for four years in Data-related functions - such as Data Analyst, Data Engineer, and Data Scientist - in a big company in Brazil.
Taledo caught my attention right from the initial interview because of the fresh Startup mind, the pace, and the goals. That was what I was looking for the next step in my career at that time. Also, Taledo chose me! I would expect that from a very competent recruiting company.
What do you appreciate the most about Taledo?
People. My co-workers are the best! Taledo does a great job recruiting people not only for our clients, but also for ourselves. That reflects the quality and satisfaction of the clients.
Data Science is one of the hottest topics of our time. Can you describe your work as a Data Scientist?
Data Science is typically associated with taking data, forecasting information, and predicting the future. But it's not that simple.
To achieve that level of knowledge, it's necessary to understand your data on a profound level. Explore and analyze. That's basically what I do as a Data Scientist at Taledo.
By doing that, it's possible to understand how we are performing, where to improve, and then, how to improve. After that, you have to predict and plan the next steps.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement here?
We are working on some exciting projects. I would say that increasing the knowledge about our data/performance and improving the search engine - consequently, improving the matches - are the best achievements so far. However, some great things are yet to come. And soon!
What is the future of your field? What are the trends?
Data Science is evolving every day. Useful data is getting harder to identify on the massive amount of information we are exposed to. Most of the time, the data is unstructured. Some techniques in this situation are being explored and are a tendency nowadays.
One of the most recurring topics in Data Science that is important for many companies is Natural Language Processing. Text data exploration is still a trend in 2020 since new approaches are being developed to make this hard task easier to overcome. Sentiment analysis, semantic understanding, topic modeling, and so on, are some methods we can use to understand what people say in texts and contextualize in a format the machine can interpret and use.
With the help of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and profound analysis, several insights can create business value to text data and the company.
What do you look forward to when you come to work?
I expect to face challenges. That makes my work enjoyable and I am never tired of it. It's never dull.
