Turnover describes the rate at which employees leave a company. Irrespective of how this happened - by resigning or by getting fired.

The Turnover rate is calculated by:

(Personnel that left/ average amount of personnel)*100

Common reasons for turnover are:

  • Career choice and development
  • Work environment
  • Work life balance
  • Family and other living circumstances
  • Poaching by competitors
  • Wage or lack of opportunities
  • Problems with management or coworkers

To keep turnover rates low, it is advised to consider patterns that might lead to these results and assess how these can be improved/changed within the organisation, if possible.
